Districts must administer a transition assessment listed on the Transition Assessments Approved as an Alternate to the Career Readiness Assessment, or one that has been approved by SCDE through the review approval process in order to meet the testing requirement for an alternate career readiness assessment. Students who are eligible to take an alternate career readiness assessment are those students who meet the criteria for participation in the state alternate assessments and are in grade 11.
The Alternate Career Readiness Assessment can be administered anytime during the school year. After the assessment has been administered, please complete the Alternate Assessment Survey for 2025-26 by May 22, 2026.
Alternate Career Readiness Assessments:
- Districts must administer one of the following to students who meet the participation criteria for alternate assessment:
- Brigance Transition Skills Inventory (TRS2 - Sections D, E, F, G, and H)
- Enderle-Severson Transition Rating Scale (TRS 3.0)
- Functional Independent Skills Handbook (FISH)
- Life Skills Inventory (LSI) (Categories A–N)
- Student Annual Needs Determination Inventory (SANDI)
- Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) (Sections 1 and 2)
- TEACCH Transition Assessment Profile
- Transition Assessments Approved as an Alternate to the Career Readiness Assessment (sc.gov)
Students Tested:
- Students with significant cognitive disabilities who the IEP team determined meet the participation criteria for alternate assessment and who are in grade 11.
When Tests Are Administered:
- The test can be administered anytime during the 2025-26 school year.
