David Trent was born and raised in Greenwood, SC. He is a 1998 graduate of Emerald High School and a graduate of The Citadel, The South Carolina Bankers School, and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. David has worked in the banking industry for over 18 years and has also worked as the vice president for a small company.

He has been involved in a number of community-based positions, including, the United Way, Small Business Development Center Board, Cornerstone Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commissioner, and The Greenwood Citadel Club. David has been an active member of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and has served as chair of the chamber board.

David was first elected to the Greenwood School District Board of Trustees in 2016 and served as the chairman of the board from 2018-2020. He served two terms as a school board trustee.

David has been married to his wife Stacey, an educator, for 22 years and they have four children.
