Mr. Joey Haney

Mr. Joey L. Haney is honored to serve on the State Board of Education and represent the Sixteenth Circuit (Union, York).  Joey is a native of Union County, where he attended and graduated from Lockhart High School.  He obtained a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Secondary Education Mathematics from USC - Spartanburg.
Joey received his Masters of Education Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina and also an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration.
Mr. Haney served 20 years as a High School Math Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal at Whitmire High School and Whitmire Community School.  Joey then accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent for Operations and Administration at Newberry County School District and served in that position for 4 years.   In 2020, the door of opportunity opened for Joey to return home and serve as the Superintendent of Union County Schools.  He is currently in his fifth year in this position and has 30 years of total experience in education.  
Joey feels honored to have the opportunity to serve on the State Board of Education and looks forward to collaborating with and on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina.
