Dr. Christian “Chris” Hanley represents the Ninth Judicial Circuit on the South Carolina State Board of Education.
Dr. Hanley is Family Physician and Flight Surgeon who served nearly twenty-nine years in the United States Air Force. After graduating from a public high school in rural Maryland, he earned a B.S. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska and then graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He then completed Family Medicine Residency at the National Capital Consortium, Andrews AFB, MD. He later completed training as a Flight Surgeon and is rated a Senior Flight Surgeon as well as being a Medical Acupuncturist. As part of his military duties, he has served on every continent except Antarctica.
Dr. Hanley has taught many subjects to medical students, physician assistant students, and nurse practitioner students at multiple universities across the country, including teaching physical examination and clinical concepts to the inaugural class of physician assistant students at Charleston Southern University. He was also on staff at the Family Medicine residency, National Capital Consortium, Andrews AFB, MD with additional duties of developing and teaching Military-Unique Curriculum. Dr. Hanley is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and is Board Certified in Family Medicine.
Dr. Hanley also serves as the Youth Minister at Wassamassaw Baptist Church in Berkeley County, SC.
Chris and his wife Amanda have two adult children and five grandchildren with the sixth on the way.
