K–12 Immersion Institute Professional Learning Opportunity

This hands-on institute will afford participants an opportunity to explore ways to support immersion learners in the mastery of content, as well as deepen their understanding of the South Carolina Standards for World Language Proficiency.

Code Ann. § 59-17-160, the South Carolina Department of Education and the South Carolina State Fire Marshal administered the review process of school districts’ fire and safety policies. Each policy was reviewed by independent subject matter experts who provided objective feedback and rated each policy as “Excellent,” “Satisfactory,” or “Unsatisfactory.”

Professional Learning Allocations for Gifted and Talented and International Baccalaureate Programs

Each Regional Fiscal Agent will receive a Professional Learning allocation of $10,000 to be paid through District Revenue Code: 3597A.The funding is provided through the 2022–23 Annual Appropriations Act Professional Development line item and Proviso 1A.25. Payments will arrive within 30 days of processing.

Multilingual Learner Program Data Management System Rollout Plan Update

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) is pleased to share that 67 districts have now opted in to leverage our partnership with Ellevation Education. Secured by the SCDE in September 2022, Ellevation supports essential components of the Multilingual Learner Program (MLP) including a platform for required programmatic documentation (Ellevation Platform) and an instructional and professional learning component (Ellevation Strategies).

In accordance with S.C. Code Ann. § 59-63-90, the South Carolina Department of Education is required to develop a notice to be sent by each local educational agency to all parents or legal guardians that notifies them of available services and rights pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and medical homebound regulations at the beginning of the school year.

Fiscal Year 2023 Federal Grant Close Out

The due date for all budget amendments is Friday, June 30, 2023, for grant awards ending June 30 and/or any expenditures that will be incurred on or before June 30, 2023. No amendments will be allowed for these funds from June 30, 2023, through August 15, 2023. Recipients are required to report deviations from budget and program plans and request prior approvals for budget and program plan revisions.

CarolinaCrED to offer micro-credentials for SC educators. Sign up for an information session on
