SC Literacy Competencies for Reading Coaches
The South Carolina Reaching Coach Competencies exist to define what reading coaches should know and be able to do in order to ensure that all students comprehend grade-level texts.
 

Ways to Use the Learning Paths for Reading Coaches

The Coach Champion Are you a coach champion? Do you support reading coaches and schools in building their coaching skills and programs? If so, you could facilitate group learning and reflection utilizing the information provided in the learning paths and reflection questions. Allow your reading coaches to analyze the information provided in the path and discuss their learning.
The Coach Cadre Are you a part of a reading coach group who would like to join in learning, reflecting, and growing in the coaching knowledge and skill? If so, create a time to come together in person or virtually to read, learn, reflect, and set goals using the information provided in the learning paths.
The Solo Coach Are you a coach who would like to grow in your knowledge of coaching and strengthen your coaching practices? If so, use the learning path information in a self-study to reflect on ways you can improve your coaching skills and coaching program at your school.
The Interested Coach Are you considering a career as a reading coach? Do you want to learn more about the roles, responsibilities, foundational skills, and what it takes to build and sustain a coaching program? If so, use the learning path information and reflection questions to learn more about coaching!
