Perkins V

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, which amended the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education (Perkins IV) Act of 2006, was signed into law on July 31, 2018. The amended Act, now Perkins V, brings changes to the $1.2 billion annual federal investment in career and technical education (CTE). The reauthorized legislation went into effect on July 1, 2019. Perkins serves as the primary federal investment in CTE.

The OCTE will continue to work in the Grants Accounting Processing System (GAPS) throughout the current situation for Perkins and state funding. At this time, there are no changes to deadlines for spending funds. We will follow up with the U.S. Department of Education to inquire about any potential changes. If you recognize that your activities may be affected, we would encourage you to complete an amendment. The amendment period will remain open, and we will work diligently to help you with this current difficulty.
