Description
The purpose of this program is to enable SFAs to purchase equipment to serve healthier meals that meet the updated meal patterns, with an emphasis on more fruits and vegetables in school meals, including items purchased locally; improved food safety; and expanded access. This year, these funds will allow SFAs to purchase equipment needed to serve healthier school meals, improve food safety, improve energy efficiency, and expand access to school meals.

Eligible Applicants
School Food Authorities may apply on behalf of a school that
- Currently participates in NSLP;
- Did not receive equipment assistance under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and the FY 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 (round one) Agriculture Appropriations Act (see RFP for list of ineligible schools); and
- Has an enrollment of 50 percent or more students eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

Funding Detail
The SCDE anticipates awarding between 15 and 30 subgrants in round two. No subgrant will be awarded for more than $25,000.
