2019-20 Gifted and Talented Graduate Course Program Discretionary Grant

Description

Gifted and Talented (GT) Graduate Course Program funding will be provided to institutions of higher education that offer tuition-free graduate courses for teachers who are pursuing either endorsement or certification in GT education. These courses will be designed for the following topics:
  • Nature and Needs of Gifted and Talented Students;
  • Introduction to Curriculum and Instruction for Gifted and Talented Students;
  • Advanced Curriculum for Gifted and Talented Students;
  • Students Identification, Current Trends, and Issues in Gifted and Talented Education;
  • Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Learners;
  • Special Topic Seminars in Gifted and Talented Education; and
  • Other topics applicable to gifted education.

Eligible Applicants

An eligible applicant is a public or private South Carolina institution of higher education (IHE) that currently offers or plans to offer introductory graduate courses in GT education.

Total Funding Available

Approximately $200,000 will be allocated for 2019–20 GT graduate courses on a competitive basis.

Funding Detail

Approximately 20 GT graduate courses will be funded, depending upon the quality of applications. The average per course award made in the previous funding year was $10,000.

September 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020
