Principal Induction Program (PIP)

Who is it for?

The Principal Induction Program (PIP) is designed to support first year principals. The transition to the principalship can be lonely. The program helps participants further develop instructional leadership by offering personalized learning opportunities in conjunction with a variety of resources. Activities center around the priorities of Personalization, Collective Leadership and Equitable Access to Effective Instruction.

What does it look like?

First-year principals enrolled in PIP have opportunities to reflect on their leadership style while adding to their leadership repertoire. Sessions include legal updates, evaluation best practices, team capacity building, and instructional leadership strategies.  Networked practice and building instructional capacity are modelled during sessions. Collaborative work centers on communication, building instructional capacity and equitable access to education for all students. Principals create a space that allows genuine conversations which fosters community amongst the group members.   Participants personalize their learning outcomes and receive feedback on their leadership.

What are people saying?

  • “My participation in PIP allowed me to grow as a leader, reflect on my experiences as a leader, and become a better leader of my school. PIP granted me the opportunity to network with new principals, capture and share creative ideas, and engage in thought-provoking conversations.”

  • “The program equipped me to function more effectively as an instructional leader. The discussions were very meaningful, and the resources provided were invaluable. Being able to collaborate with other educators in similar and different situations helped to broaden my scope of thinking and problem-solving.”

  • “Dr. Robinson coached me to identify specific and individual needs for me and addressed those needs with a multi-faceted approach.”

  • “Dr. Robinson was very transparent through conversation concerning work and home balance in the role of Principal. His insight was powerful. Also, as I shared concerns/challenges, he offered practical steps to begin to remedy each situation. I'm thankful for the time I was able to spend under Dr. Robinson's guidance.”
