Talent Matters Webinars 

The primary audience for these sessions is district personnel and instructional leaders, but any district or school leader interested in attracting and retaining great talent is welcome to join. Plan to join us for as many of these sessions as your schedule allows.
January 19, 2022, 1:00-2:30 | Supporting and Retaining Excellent Teachers
Are you interested in learning more about career support and management that contributes to retention? This session will include key strategies and tools to develop supportive cultures that
retain high-quality educators. 

February 23, 2022, 1:00-2:30 | Strategic approaches Recruitment and Selection
Do you need strategic human capital approaches to attract, recruit and select high-quality educators? Recruitment and selection are important elements of the work of HR to ensure the best teachers and principals are brought into the district and stay in the district. This session will provide strategies for recruiting, selecting, and retaining teachers and principals who match
the needs of the district.

March 16, 2022, 1:00-2:30 | Welcoming and Supporting New Teachers
Could you use support developing an exemplary new teacher experience? A focus on induction and assignment can both bring in new teachers that are a great fit for the students being served
and keep them there. This session will provide an overview of strategies that support a strong new teacher experience.

April 27, 2022, 1:00-2:30 | Supporting School Leaders with Recruitment, Retention, and Staffing
Would you like strategies specific to delivering the support school leaders need and want? Principals are the key to strong human capital management, and the district HR team can
be a great support to the principal in this role. This session will provide tools to help district staff and principal managers set principals up to be strong managers of human capital.
 

South Carolina Capital Principal Network 

Principals play an essential role in attracting, selecting, developing, and retaining top talent. All students deserve access to excellent teaching, but providing that access in this moment can require finding new and innovative approaches and deepening the use of our most impactful talent strategies. This yearlong cohort includes 90-minute, virtual sessions beginning in September 2022. Monthly topics include the new teacher experience, teacher leadership, managing low performers and teacher absenteeism, teacher retention, workforce planning, and teacher selection. Each of the virtual monthly meetings will provide principals with new skills, the chance to explore problems of practice, and the opportunity to learn from one another.

South Carolina Human Capital District Network 

To address challenges in recruitment and retention, the South Carolina Department of Education is forming a year-long South Carolina Human Capital Network of district teams who are committed to improving and strengthening their human capital strategies and practices in 2022-23. This invitation-only network targets districts with a strong history of thoughtful human capital collaboration and schools that qualify as a critical needs geographic areas.
