Teacher Recruitment and Retention provides innovative programs and initiatives to attract and retain teachers. The department collaborates with districts statewide to find successful methods of teacher recruitment and retention. One such effort is the Exchange Visitor Program; this program promotes the interchange of America and international teachers and provides opportunities for the development of lasting links between U.S. and international schools. The Exchange program also provides teachers with an opportunity to expand their international understanding by working alongside international colleagues. The South Carolina Department of Education currently has Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with Germany, France and Spain.
