DISTRICT LEA PROFILES
The Special Education LEA Profile provides a summary of indicators against which each LEA is measured. Collectively, these indicators compare each LEA’s performance against the state’s targets for educational programs for students with disabilities. Individually, these indicators can help identify areas where improvements are needed and provide a measure of progress toward the goals established in the State Performance Plan. STATEWIDE DATA COLLECTION HISTORY
This section contains summaries of South Carolina's Assessments and Child Counts for students with IEPs. Section 618(a) of the IDEA (as reauthorized in IDEA 2004) requires that States annually make specific data under section 618(a) available to the Secretary and to the public. State-level IDEA Data Files
As part of the 2004 IDEA Reauthorization, Congress requires that every State Educational Agency (SEA) submit a State Performance Plan (SPP) to the federal Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). The State Performance Plan (SPP) is a six-year performance plan, which evaluates a SEA's efforts to implement IDEA requirements and describes how the SEA will improve its performance in 17 critical areas, known as indicators. Regulatory Citation: The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act, 2004, Section 616 states “(C) PUBLIC REPORTING AND PRIVACY- (I) PUBLIC REPORT- The State shall report annually to the public on the performance of each local educational agency located in the State on the targets in the State's performance plan.” Information on all states' determinations and letters can be accessed here: States SPP/APR Determinations and Letters OSES is requesting additional SPP/APR input at the following link: SPP/APR Stakeholder Input
The Office of Special Education Services (OSES) is developing its new State Performance Plan (SPP)! This SPP will set our focus for the next 6 years. This is an opportunity to hear from our educators, families, and community members on the direction we take to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. A series of recorded presentations explain where we are and what we hope to do as it relates to each IDEA performance or compliance indicator below.
Please listen to the recordings that best fit you and send us feedback through each Indicator survey. You will also find downloadable stakeholder presentation PDFs for each indicator in English and Spanish. These may be used for reference as you complete the surveys.
