Farm to School Program

The Office of Health and Nutrition supports Farm to School efforts through a number of initiatives, and continues to look for ways to help facilitate this important connection.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) provides all children in participating schools with a variety of free fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the school day. It is an effective and creative way of introducing fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options.

Special Milk Program

The Special Milk Program (SMP) was first authorized in 1954.  In 1966, it was included as part of the Child Nutrition Act.  The program provides a subsidy for milk served to eligible children.

USDA Summer Meal Programs

Children need healthy food all year long. During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch through the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs.
