Civil Rights- Limited English Proficiency & Accessibility Requirements

Information and resources for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) is provided on this website. South Carolina is experiencing an influx of new residents, and the demographics are changing and growing rapidly. The SCDE-OHN wants to assist in any way it can to break down cultural barriers as LEP individuals who face linguistic and cultural barriers work to become self-sufficient.

Resources

Use USDA’s I Speak Statements Card | Food and Nutrition Service (usda.gov), which is available in several languages. The "I Speak" resource document is available to help identify the primary language of non-English speakers.  It uses a short phrase in several languages that an applicant can check to indicate the language they speak.
